Puristry is the chemistry of pure ingredients. Thanks to her background of extensive research and formulating with plants, Susie Wang distinctly understands and utilizes each plant or ingredient’s unique biology, and formulates based off of that knowledge. It isn’t about adding a bunch of ingredients together and saying they work. It’s about deeply knowing each ingredient--what it works well with, what it doesn’t--and how to best deliver that targeted nutrition into the skin.

Yes, these products are natural, but the deeper focus is about understanding the chemistry in ingredients. Puristry goes above and beyond this creed because not only are its products natural and potently formulated-- they’re actually certified organic by government standards. This is a huge accomplishment due to the fact that currently, the USDA Organic Seal is the only standardized organic system that exists in America to guarantee that a product is organic to a specific set of requirements.

Susie’s vision for Puristry stems from a single hero ingredient focus per product for clean, condensed, specific results. She has chosen the ingredient best suited for the purpose of each product; the other less prominent nutrients in the formulas are simply there to complement and synergistically support the hero ingredient. This line is different than any others Susie has invented. It focuses on simple, highly concentrated primary ingredients to deliver optimum results. For example, the Nopal Cactus she uses is dramatically more potent and condensed. Since Nopal Cactus is 80 percent water, Susie removes the water to make a powerful, effective “dose” of this ingredient to best utilize its benefits for the skin.

Puristry Easy Step 123

  1. What is cold-processed?

We cold process our ingredients to ensure maximum benefits are retained from the original ingredient source. Heat extraction often involves chemical processing that leaves chemical traces which can be transferred into your skin. High heat also diminishes much of the naturally occurring vitamins and nutrients, and can alter the intended nature of the oil.

  2. Are all Puristry products vegan?

Yes, all of our products are vegan and cruelty-free.

  3. Are all Puristry products certified organic?

Yes, we certified all of the products in the Puristry line with the USDA.

  4. What is the difference between your Facial Oil and Serum?

Our Facial Oil is great for instilling potent active oils, fatty acids, and vitamins into all skin types; even oily skin. Serums are formulated with smaller molecules to penetrate deeply into skin, and contain vitamins and nutrients plus peptides for plumping skin.

  5. What skin types can use these products?

Puristry is gentle and effective enough to be used on all skin types.

  6. What do the products smell like?

Puristry products are made with an essential oil blend of organic bergamot, cedarwood, vetiver, sage, and lavender. This blend has a fresh, herbal aroma that is gender neutral.

  7. I see that Puristry formulas contain Bergamot, which a citrus based essential oil. Don’t citrus oils cause photosensitivity/ phototoxicity in the sun?

Yes, normally Bergamot is an essential oil associated with photosensitivity/ phototoxicity, meaning it is not safe to use in the sun. However, for Puristry we specifically chose a Bergamot oil that was formulated without bergapten, the ingredient within Bergamot that triggers photosensitive reactions. This allows our bergapten-free Bergamot oil to be safely used in the sun.

  8. My formula is separating, is this normal?

Because Puristry is made with no chemical emulsifiers or thickeners, some separation is to be expected. We recommend shaking before each use to evenly disperse ingredients before dispensing. For example, the Nopal Cactus Cleanser is made mostly from nopal cactus, so you can actually see the polysaccharide pulp of the plant inside the cleanser; this is completely normal.

  9. Is Puristry safe to use during pregnancy?

Puristry formulations are safe for use during pregnancy and breastfeeding; however, they do contain safe minimal concentrations of natural essential oils. Certain individuals may be more sensitive to general or specific essential oils, like vetiver and sage. For the best and safest results, we highly recommend consulting with your primary health care provider prior to starting any new skincare regimen.

  10. In what order should I apply all of the products?
    1. Cleanser
    2. Toner
    3. Serum
    4. Facial Oil
    5. Eye Cream
    6. Moisturizer
